GLP-3-RT research: trial evidence and vial documentation
Sources checked: 22 October 2026.
GLP-3-RT is our catalogue name for the research material identified scientifically as retatrutide (LY3437943). It is studied for activity at GIP, GLP-1 and glucagon receptors. The published trial evidence and the analysis of a commercial research vial answer different questions.
What the trials actually measured
| Source and study | Finding | Scope |
|---|---|---|
| Jastreboff et al., 2023 | A randomised, blinded phase-2 trial in 338 adults, with placebo comparison and 48-week follow-up. The highest study arm had a mean weight change of −24.2%, versus −2.1% with placebo at week 48. | This was a specified trial population and investigational product, not testing of PP vials. |
| Lilly TRIUMPH-1 announcement, 21 May 2026 | The sponsor reported phase-3 results over 80 weeks, including 28.3% mean weight reduction in the highest arm. | A sponsor announcement must be identified as such. Its population, analysis and duration differ from the phase-2 publication. |
Why the percentages cannot be compared directly
Check the trial duration, starting population, comparator and analysis method before comparing two headlines. A mean is an average across a study group; it does not predict an individual result. A percentage at 48 weeks and one at 80 weeks describe different observations. Neither figure establishes the performance of another material carrying the same name.
Safety is part of the result
The phase-2 publication reported gastrointestinal adverse events and dose-related increases in heart rate. Reading only the weight endpoint leaves out material information. Follow the original paper for event definitions, withdrawals and eligibility criteria; a brief summary cannot establish safety for a different population.
How to separate the documents
| Document | Question it answers |
|---|---|
| Trial publication | What happened to the participants receiving the study material? |
| Study register | What protocol and endpoints were registered, and what updates were recorded? |
| Analytical report | What did the laboratory measure in the submitted sample? |
| Product listing | Which format and declared quantity is offered? |
Checking the research vial
The 10 mg, 20 mg and 30 mg catalogue formats are separate quantities. A report for a sample labelled 10 mg cannot establish the fill of a 20 mg or 30 mg vial. Total mass is also distinct from concentration, which requires a volume and units. For a meaningful comparison, match the report identifier, declared material, sample label and measured result.
