Why does the vial look empty?
That’s normal. The peptide is supplied lyophilised (freeze-dried) — often a thin film or a few milligrams at the base of the vial, easy to mistake for empty. It’s all there; reconstitute with bacteriostatic water before use.

MOTS-c (Mitochondrial ORF of the 12S rRNA type-c) is a short peptide encoded within mitochondrial DNA — one of a small family of mitochondrial-derived peptides. It is studied as a signalling molecule that links mitochondrial status to whole-cell and whole-organism metabolism.

Research reports that under metabolic stress MOTS-c translocates to the nucleus and helps regulate gene expression, and that it activates the AMPK energy-sensing pathway — placing it at the centre of interest in metabolic-homeostasis and exercise-physiology models.
